Yes, they where surrounding the heart when I pulled it out. Like I said, I thought it might have been part of the liver because of the color, but I took the liver out before I went through the diaphragm to get the heart and lungs.

Michaels~ would staphs or streps cause diarrhea in her before she laid down with mouth gaping?
yes- it could, because as the body shuts down [and organs deteriorate] fluids can/will run out of both ends. And from the pictures and what you said --I - ASSUME ,the break down of organs was rapid. -sometimes you can see the red/pink tinge of the fluids at mouth/ nose, and at the vulva, -- but it is often not obvious at the rectom as it is mixed with poop so it just looks like diarrea. -but with organs like those pictured ,any water the rabbit would drink would go right through.- be careful with yourself and your own safety, - some of these "bugs" are very dangerous to humans as well. -esp. if it was a staff or strep.

If you get the remains tested, you may find out what you are dealing with, -- or maybe not-- but-- you could also cause yourself a lot of trouble, as they might suspect avian flu,[or something else] and want to shut you down or cause other irrepairable damage to you.-- the choice is yours--

-- Wed May 14, 2014 6:46 am --

http://www.petmd.com/rabbit/conditions/ ... yxomatosis

did these symptoms look familiar ?
just wondering...

From what I could see, and going back to look at all the photos of her, she didn't have any of the other symptoms besides the sneezing and difficulty breathing. I didn't find any nodules or cysts on her skin anywhere. I didn't get her tested only because of money issues. The babies where fine and showed no symptoms at all.

It had me wondering as well. I am just glad that it wasn't that after all. My vet said it sounded like an infection most likely caused by allergies to the peach tree. No one else has shown any signs what so ever. I just sold the two girls to another rabbit eater who is planning on using them as momma meat makers. Her daughter fell in love with Tort an begged her mom to get her. I told her everything that had happened to their mom and what it was believed to have been. She is going to keep me updated on the girls.
