Silver Fox rabbit kits will be ready for new home beginning February 18, 2022, when they turn 8 weeks old. They are all weaned and feeding independently. All have been touched and handled by me since the day they were born, so they are acclimated to interacting with humans. All come with pedigrees. 5 females, 2 males. They will be available for adoption through March 18, 2022. If needed, a non-refundable deposit of $15 per rabbit will hold your choice of rabbit(s) for two weeks while you prepare to bring your rabbit(s) home. (At this time, I do not ship rabbits. Only pick-up, please. Located in Southwestern Pennsylvania.)

EFFORTS TO REVIVE THIS RARE BREED:

The Silver Fox rabbit breed was almost extinct before people realized the breed needed help if it was going to survive and make a comeback as a viable show, meat, pelt and pet rabbit. You can help us bring back the breed. If you are not interested in breeding Silver Foxes, then please consider adopting a single kit. Or, if you'd like to get involved with helping consider, a duo (1 male, 1 female) or trio (1 male, 2 females) and begin your own breeding program. If needed, we are happy to mentor you on your new venture!

BREED HISTORY:

The Silver Fox rabbit breed was developed in Canton, Ohio in the early 1900s and was first recognized as a breed in and of itself by the American Rabbit Breeder's Association (ARBA) in 1925. Raised primarily for their meat and fur, interest in the breed began to wane as demand for their fur decreased. You can learn more about the breed by simply conducting a web search.

BREED USEFULNESS:

Due to their docile nature, some people keep Silver Foxes as pets; they are also quite useful as a wholesome, clean source of meat for your family and the pelt of the adult Silver Fox remains as beautiful as ever. The kits shown are currently too young to show their silvering but will silver out as they age. I've included photos of their mom and dad (dam BlueBelle and sire Sampson), so you can see the expected silvering at maturity.

How far west in PA are you? Sounds like you may be close enough for me. I need a buck. I would be happy to get a doe as well. I am down to an aging Chinchilla doe. I could easily switch to silver fox. Have you any left as this late date?

If you do Paypal I will prepay for a buck and a doe.

And, yes, I accept PayPal. Would you like updated photos?

Did you receive the PayPal invoice you requested? Also, did I make a mistake? Did you want a trio (2 does, 1 buck) or did you want a duo (1 doe and 1 buck)? I sent an invoice for a trio, but now realize you may have only wanted a buck and a doe. Please let me know and I will void the original invoice and send a corrected one.

I had gotten my first silver fox from a small breeder, unfortunately she passed suddenly. I was planning on starting to show and breed, since I really enjoyed her and the breed. There are not many breeders near me. Looking to start to get info going forward. I am in no rush. Any help would be appreciated. I have been looking for quality silver fox breeders to continue this breed.

Where are you located?

I used to live in East Haddam. Anyway, I am originally from SW PA, so that's where I now live. Are you contacting me because you are interested in purchasing a trio for breeding?

I am in process of debating if I want to get into breeding. You were the closest I was able to find. I did find a few more close to me that weren't on the list. I don't want to jump in too quickly. I appreciate you messaging me back. I was thinking of a trio. Like I said still gathering info.

About how far from Harrisburg are you Kelly? If I can't find a pedigreed breeder of Champagne d'Argent I think I'm going to be going with Silver Fox.

I absolutely love your silver fox. A credit to you.

Thank you. These kits are all gone, but I currently have 4 more litters. :)
I live in the U.K. congratulations on selling them. I have posted three months ago for the sale of my giant x New Zealand and only just sold her. I bought a lop doe from a breeder/ show lady. I had another doe at home and they got on really well but found out my doe was a buck. And had six beautiful kits, when they were six weeks old I found two dead babies and by the seventh day I had lost them all including mom. The vet said it was E Cuniculi, so she must of had this before I bought her. I still cannot understand how the vet said what it was without testing. All my others including my 7 year old boy. I cannot go through this again.

Does this vet specialize in rabbits? To me it sounds like your vet looked up things that cause rabbits to die on Google. E.C. is a much more indepth condition than that. And no, you can't say for sure unless you test for it, unless you find out by treatments that eliminate other things. It isn't usually something that kills them suddenly either. Many rabbits live with it just fine and pass it on to others that suffer debilitating head tilt due to neurological damage and sever kidney damage, among other things. I would think it would be more likely that your doe suffered from a stuck kit or GI stasis. I dont know about the bigger lop breeds, but Hollands tend to have a higher mortality rate. And I would assume if the mom wasn't feeling the greatest, she may not have been tending to her kits as diligently.

my vet is supposed to be a specialist in rabbits. I have read about E Cuniculi and none of them looked like it. I did notice when they were four weeks old, their fur looked like it was greasy and tatty, but after a week the fur looked back to looking like a ball of fluff.
