Oh, I'm sure they'll all do great. Lily is a good mom, has been since her first litter. She did have 7 her first litter, but two passed right away, one being a suspected stillborn, the other looked like she'd squashed it in her confusion of being a first time mum. Strangely hoping that all 7 of these little ones make it to weaning, even though I was planning on pulling the litter.

I don't remember other newborns being this small though.

7 times. for the SEVEN(!!!) babies in Lily's nest.

I know you did not what this, but how wonderful!!! You will figure it out what to do. Pictures?! :p

I'll do pictures in a bit... brought an electric heater to take the chill off the room so I don't feel bad exposing them for a while to take pics and look em over.

I can't believe she had that many.

As per request, baby pictures

Lily has fed at least once, they're plumper than they were this AM. I think she had only just had them when I saw them, because they seem more normally sized now. Already growing!

More beautiful Lilly babies. They are precious. Can't wait to see how they grow.

Love Chuck. What a good bunny watcher he is.

They look very healthy and beautiful? What kind of rabbit is Lilly? Do you have a picture of her? I am going to do a search and see. You have got you some nice bunnies.

Wow, what a beautiful litter! I know we were all helping you hope for a false pregnancy, but they are very cute and look healthy!

Do you have another buck? If so, is his cage lockable too?

Maybe it isn't your room that needs the lock, so much as the rabbits. You can't be sure your father will remember to put the lock on your door when they come and you're not there, since they'll have him distracted.

If you buy a small key or combination lock and put it on Lily's cage, they can't take her out or put a buck in. I'd keep it on there all the time, so you're in the habit of it being there and you don't forget to put it on.

:yeahthat:

Well, I had another buck, a Flemish cross, but I rehomed him because he was driving me nuts, hit maturity and the smell of Lily was causing him to be a very naughty boy. He would have still been here when Lily got pregnant, though, which was my biggest concern. But there are some double manes in there, and they're all the same size, so I assume all the same father.

Thanks, though, guys. They do look healthy, although still seem kinda small to me. I was mostly worried that Lily wouldn't pull through okay. Dobby is locked in his cage, in a different room, so my breeding schedule can actually be followed. That makes this the last batch of popples until I breed for Easter. Though I have to decide if the new girl will have a litter under her belt before then or not.

Just so everyone knows... I did the math, if you breed on January 14th, you'll have kits born on or around Valentine's day, which will be ready for Easter weekend.

Hmm, must have been the cross part in your Flemish that caused him to mature so fast (you thought he was 4 months right?) because all the info on Flemish Giants, bucks don't fully mature until 1.5 years old. And Oct 7th, Fawkes will be 4 months old, and he's just curious about the rabbits. No hormones showing. Just a big goofy baby, lol. Will let you know once Fawkes hits maturity. Just starting to learn about these Big Gentle Giants myself. Sorry you had to give Riddle up though.

Plus I'll remember about that date, January 14th. Know Easter, Christmas, etc are big pet day sales, but won't do it here. I'd rather sell a bunny to someone who really wants to have one as a pet than someone giving one for a present. But that's just me.

Can't wait to see how these new "7" grow out for you. Definitely lots of colors in that nest box.

Well, I have an agreement with a photographer for her to use my rabbits in her Easter photo shoots again, so have to have babies then. It gets me free Easter pictures for my nieces and nephews though, and I had a great time doing it with Dobby last year.

Riddle was between 5 or 6mths, and he was thumping like crazy, lunging and growling at me, spraying, and trying to start fights with Dobby through the cage. I don't know why he was behaving like that, but was told it was probably sexual maturity. His nuts hadn't dropped, though. He is happy in his new home, and things are a bit calmer around here. Plus, he wasn't initially intended to stay, I did for him what I wanted - got him up to weight, happy and healthy, then moved him on. And it opened up room for the new girl to come.

I read the Flemish do not spray as much. I have not seen it happen yet and Snickers is next to Zoup.
