So it appears I have TWO amazing mothers?! Honey, has been a great mother since day 1. Ashleys babies were born dead, so I gave her some of another does babies to raise.

I have these two in runs side by side. There is a small gap between the two runs and the babies are going back and forth and both moms are nursing all 12 of them!

Is this normal? I watched a little black one nurse off Ashley then slip through the gap and nurse off Honey!

And then also just a couple pics of Honey asking for and getting her morning pets.

See the black on in the bottom corner of the right run? Just nursed off Ashely:

Aww!

Good thing you are in Hawaii and I'm in CA, or I might just have to sneak over and steal that Honey-Bunny! :ninja:

(HEY! Where's our Sneaky-guy-in-the-trenchcoat Smiley???)

It happens with my litters

I have 3 converted dog cages and the little ones climb over the 4 inch baby saver, squeeze through the bars and visit their relatives. I use to have an unrelated doe in one of the cages and she did not tollerate visitors so I moved her and put in another sister and all is well. Actually the grandma is a very popular doe and some days I'll come in and she'll have 20 kits scatterd about her cage - because of this I must mark them at a very young age to tell who belongs to who :D

I wish I could see grandbunny with all the babies! That would be tooo cute!

Ive had does share kits in a colony but never had a cage setup where it happened. I did have a doe next to the buck who fathered the litter where she chewed a small hole in the wood divider inbetween. I noticed the hole when I found the kits in his cage snuggling up to dad. They visited him every day and he was always very gentle with them, it was so sweet.

Oh my gods that is the cutest thing EVER. :D

The grandma (one if my original does) is really a great girl and is very loving with all the kits, I can understand why she is do popular, she's my favorite too :D

The kits in those cages were moved last week to make room for upcoming litters but I'll try and remember to take a pic with the next bunch.

That's so cute! Maybe they THINK they're in a colony because they can see each other through the fence :)

I have a doe we call the Big Sister. She's a teenager and she loves to cuddle with the baby bunnies. I'm hoping she's got baby urges.

My rabbits Rams and Spira got through thegap between their mothers hutches. Some of their siblings got their ears chewed off when they came through.. :/

I have no idea how common it is though. In the colony I havn't had any problem, but this was in separate cages.

How sweet that they're gentle to each others kits in your set up :) Maybe the space makes the differense?

All I can say is that baby bunnies must be smart. They know how to get in good meals and snacks besides!
