My Siamese Satin had her babes this morning. The father is a broken blue buck. She only had three but better than none. I am hoping the black one is female. I would love a Black satin doe. How much color do you need in a broken? It looks to me like the other two are a broken black and a broken blue.

10% or more tham. From the pict, it looks like you've got more than that.

Thank you Sky
I am very excited about these kits. I just love the satin fur. If the black one is a quality doe i will keep here. It would be nice to sit and pet her. Her mom thinks I am going to eat her everytime I pet her. She is improving though.

Pretty pooples! It never ceases to amaze me when I see pics of Satin kits that their fur just gleams and glistens from the very beginning. :p You are going to have a hard time keeping your hands off of them! I think if I had Satins, my kits would go bald from all the petting.

I have a young doe named Magma who would start grumbling and complaining if I even looked at her, and oh, the diatribe I was subjected to if I had the nerve to take her out to weigh her or trim her nails! It was shocking... you'd think she was raised by Longshoremen, with the names she called me! When I pet her, she would tense up and start trembling. :( I have never had a rabbit do that.

Well, she is a mommy now, and within a day or two of giving birth, she stopped swearing at me, and she comes to the front of the cage to be pet!

I think the hormone oxytocin which is released while nursing is what causes the change. Oxytocin causes relaxation and a surge of loving feeling, which is why human mothers fall in love with their babies and bond with them so quickly. We have seen the same behavior in some of our barncats, some of which are bordering on the feral side. When they have litters we are often able to tame them.

Congratulations on the lovely popples! Don't pet them bald!
