I bought 4 used medium metal nests and one large, and want to make sure not to introduce any foreign "bugs" into my herd.

They appeared clean, but I scrubbed them down with dishsoap and hot water, rinsed and air dried, followed by misting them with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Think that'll do the trick? Should I give a final rinse with water?

I don't rinse after using alcohol. You can always BBQ them, or whatever your favorite method of torching is.

Nestbox Flambe! Hadn't thought of that... I wish it was dark already, because the blue flame of burning alcohol is really fun to watch!

Hay mustaches abound, so I am busily prepping nests!

now let them set in the sun and snow for a good three days minimum. :) Seriously....use that sunlight and the bleaching/cleaning power of snow do some good for yah! :)

Congrats on the abounding babies! Wash, bleach, rinse, sit in the sun...that is my usual method, sis.
