So it's been in different parts of the states for a while, and in BC and Alberta, and now in SW Ontario.

Those of us in rabbit clubs in Ontario have been somewhat frustrated by rescues continuing (in the affected area radius) continuing to sell rabbits and do meet and greets. We are equally frustrated by the lack of a vaccine, the lack of governmental support, and even officials not following their own guidelines.

I thought I would post some pics to help people wade through some of the pieces of information/requirements kind of thing. In a post I wrote for the Ontario Council of rabbit clubs I listed some additional resources.

Okay, this is my county and now I’m freaking out. We just got rabbits and we were switching to fodder and forage. We have one family of wild rabbits in our yard that we can’t prevent. I would still feel comfortable feeding them my herbs out of my raised beds, nothing has ever been in them, but now I don’t know about my comfrey and other stuff that’s on the ground. We have it all surrounded by wire so it’s not destroyed by wild rabbits but I still find nibbles off our garden and comfrey sometimes. I can’t confirm from what.

I also allow their manure to drop directly on the ground and collect for my garden, if it’s contaminated from the wild, it will contaminate my garden, correct. Ugh!

yes, but unless your rabbits have it, their manure won't be contaminated BUT if wild rabbits have access to your garden and your manure waste.... that might be a problem. And yes, you do need to take this very seriously. You should be talking to your MP and MPP about getting the vaccine into Canada.

I have vaccinated with both Eravac and Filavac, and there is no viral shedding as they are both killed vaccines.
