Hello,
I want a REW buck to start a project of shaded netherland dwarfs. The problem is that REWS can't carry shaded or pointed/himi but they can carry agouti, tan or self. I absolutely hate agouti and tan is ok if it's one of the shaded martens but no otters. What would I want this buck to carry to breed with shaded does without any crazy colored offspring.

Black or blue. Without grabbing my book I believe the choc versions are DQs. I dislike martens, and just recently discovered my coveted REW, that I kept back for my shaded program is really an Otter. :(

I love agoutis but they are NOT for shaded programs.

Reason 3 why I avoid REW for the most part, but they are really handy for a shaded program.

It's more common to use himis partially because you can see what color they are, to a point. If you use sable marten you may get nothing but sable marten. There's no guarantee there's a self gene to make sables. If you buy sables they will carry himi or rew. They have to. There will be no mystery there and you can find ones with good color instead of not knowing what a rew is going to do. Only black and blue colors are accepted and smoke pearl marten is not commonly shown. Self smoke pearls sell really well around here.

Very true which is why none of my REW Rex will ever be used in my Sable Rex program.
The JWs don't matter as much because I have never had any agoutis, and all but that one doe were visible selfs.
