Thats rough trying to sell a business like that in this economy.

Looking more into the pvc framed setup, im liking it more and more :) looks a looot easier to clean too and take apart for deep cleaning too, as in removing cages and pans. Not a whole lot cheaper than stacked cages.

Anyone ever line their metal pans with a sealant or wax to prevent rusting? So it prevents fluids from actually straight on the pan? Ive seen beeswax used on wood hutches, didnt know about the pans though

Tony, you going to keep them in a shed or not? I worry about our extreme bipolar local weather

If you use PVC, make sure to get the thicker walled PVC so that it is more sturdy.

Is there a recomended thickness? I know nothing bout pvc..dont think ive even held it. Would the rack be havy? (3 tiers)

I got filled in the other night, satins. Do you ever come to shows up this way? you seen to know alot of folks around here.

Ritter, I have been to one show in KS about 17 months ago in Emporia. It was a LONG drive (1100 miles round trip for me), and if I ever make the trip again, there is no way I'll do so without a night on the road somewhere. I did find out that there is a bonzer BBQ joint in Emporia named Bobby D's Merchant Street BBQ, so the trip wasn't a total bust LOL!!! I'm hard to please when it comes to BBQ joints, and they make some good stuff!!

I do make several shows in Missouri each year, though, and there are alot of breeders from KS who make those shows. Very good, dedicated, and down-to-earth people, at least for the most part anyway. There are some fantastic rabbits up there, too.

And if I had the money to do so and make it work for me, I'd buy that business and move out there.

http://fmicrofarm.com/2012/04/15/rabbitry-and-play-area-tour/ Fmf did these cute custom racks out of pvc, and I always go awwww when I see them on their blog. I want to build something similar when I get a permanent bunny barn. I like stackers that can disassemble and stand alone, or that I can take the legs off of and hang if I rearrange later. Versatility is definitely a quality I look for in a cage.

I know this post is a little dated now, but I just noticed the link was clicked from my blog/website and stumbled upon this thread. Anyhow-- if you haven't seen it already I have a whole tutorial on ow to build a PVC cage rack to stack 30x36" wire cages. Our 6 cages are kept in an 8x8' shed. We also keep a grooming table and their food inside as well.

I still have to read through the rest of the comments, but if you have any question on how our setup works... feel free to ask anytime! I love our little shed and cage racks!

HRranchito-what a great idea! doesn't take up as much room or rot like wood would :) And pretty than metal too. I will have to look into that and show hubby and see what he thinks!

Peach, I would love to be able to hang them so their not so crowded, makes it look kind of cluttered and harder to get around to clean. But in a teeny shed and only allowed to use half of it I will be able to fit in the 9 hole...maybe 3 more, but giant maybe So stacking will give me the best space management

She didn't mention in the video how much it cost to build the pvc rack setup, anyone have a guesstimate? $$$$$

It cost me $90 ($50 of it was the metal angle alone) to build two racks that hold three cages each. I think I mentioned the cost at the end of the video. It would have cost me $150 to buy the legs that "come with" the cages! If you already have the metal angle then it would really only cost you $40 for two racks.

I used 3/4 inch I think. I would have to refer back to my tutorial.
