ok I love the kitchen & the rabbitry. BTW you are not the only one that used your old cabinets in the garage. My husband gets everything off of job sites and brings it home. We have remolded most of our house with stuff from new subdivisions especially out of model houses that people come in and change. I love FREE!!!

I like the color on the walls very bright and airy

I am so jealous! Your rabbitry set up is just the kid of space I have been dreaming of, something like a workshop attached to the house, but separate from the house. Right now, our rabbits are divided between the laundry room and the garage. (They were in the living room for a while, so the laundry room is an improvement, LOL!)

I love the kitchen, too! We have a very similar glass tile on our backsplash, but ours has some darker tiles I think.

Thanks for sharing!

:) Thank you 3girls&1man! I am also glad to hear I'm not the only one with old kitchen cabinets in a garage space! Yes, FREE is good! Stuff from new subdivisions sounds like a pretty great thing! Thanks for the compliments.

-- Sun Jan 04, 2015 1:07 am --

fhgmom, Sorry to make you jealous. Several months ago I was asking my husband if we could turn this extra workshop space into more of a sunroom. Though I would have enjoyed that I'm really glad he decided against that as I wouldn't have imagined then that I'd get to end up turning it into our rabbitry! It really is ideal. Thanks for the compliments on the kitchen too! I appreciate people sharing the rabbit journey with me.

Thanks Marinea! What I'm really liking looking at the picture is the cage spaces sitting there available to fill! Actually the buck on the top right got moved back outdoors (way too much spraying for me!) so I have some room for some more does this year! :)

-- Fri Feb 20, 2015 1:37 pm --

It didn't take long... the indoor cages are full now. ha. (I do still have 4 good sized hutch areas open outdoors though)
In a couple weeks the little ones in the bottom left will all be going to their new homes.
Then we'll be awaiting litters in March! :)

Is it just me, or do I see room for more cages in there??

*move some stuff, add some shelves...*

Ha! Actually there is a LOT more room in this workshop area. It's a good size room.
I wouldn't mind another set of cages in time but I'm thinking the husband will keep me to this amount. Time will tell.

Beautiful! (and I'm particularly smitten with lops - we have a litter of half-lops and waiting to see if their ears drop)

Where did you get the cages? Those look quite nice. I'm unhappy with the cages I got from tractor supply because of the way the doors open... very inconvenient.

Of course, I AM getting ready to order a bunch of wire storage squares to build bunny condos anyway, so....

I would seriously consider getting into the breeding aspect of mini lops. I love love love our buck. He is the sweetest guy (and seems to make pretty babies). The spraying is annoying... but he only seems to do it when he's near the doe. Blech. ANYway....

Thanks! I ordered the cages through Klubertanz. I find them costly but they are great quality. A lot of people recommend them. It took me quite awhile to get them all put together too but I'd never assembled cages before. I am very happy with them and I figure it was worth the investment in the long run to start with this quality. If you ever order from them just know that it takes weeks to a couple months to get your order!

I really enjoy the Mini Lops temperament. I moved a different (new) buck into the rabbitry (from an outdoor hutch) today. His previous owner said he hadn't sprayed in a long time so I thought I'd give him a chance indoors. So far so good.

 I have rabbits in my kitchen, currently 7 of them...but most are quite small....

:rotfl: The tiny print is adorable.

My buck doesn't spray either, I'm assuming it depends on the buck?

baefull.wolfbunnies I guess so. It seems more often than not bucks do spray.
I had one that sprayed something terrible when he could see other rabbits (didn't seem to matter if they were other bucks or does) then once I blocked his view he completely stopped.
One never did it until after he'd been bred with a doe then he was terrible about it no matter where I put him. Crossing my fingers that the buck that I moved in today will keep being a good boy!

karenl, Thanks for the compliment on the kitchen. If you read earlier in the post I have a husband who loves things very orderly. I'm glad though as I certainly never have to clean up after him!
My oldest daughter is the same way.

Love your kitchen and the rabbitry!!
Thank you lereg15! I actually have plans to make some additional improvements to the rabbitry this Spring/Summer. I got my husband's blessing to paint all the old cabinets out there white. That will be the first project. I think that will really brighten the area up and give it a nicer look. Then I hope to add some vintage rabbit related art prints/decor to kinda go with the feel of our website. :)

Holy Better Homes and Gardens kitchen!!! That's amazing.

Lol.. thanks JenerationX! You should see the before and after pictures of this place. It was a totally forsaken/abused house that people thought we were crazy to buy. It had to be gutted to the studs both due to condition and horrid smells. It was worth it!

Sounds like all your buns will love the area!! That would be nice to be able to decorate the area as well. Unfortunately, I won't be able to do that, beings my pens will be outside and the wall is concrete.

That's the best kind of house to buy!! You can make it anyway you want to, and it brings down the price you have to pay for it! I'm all for a fixer upper to buy. My next home will have more property and less restrictions!

Thought I should add an update to this post. More work done in the rabbitry.
Not done - still need to get handles back on the cabinets and add some wall decor.
It's so much more cheerful and bright out there with the white cabinet fronts. :)
