Rabbitry Name?

most people make up names based on their surrounding or something that is meaning for them.

Such as Maple Creek Rabbitry, Lone Star Rabbits, Omega rabbits, RunningNose Rabbitry etc.

I don't recommond making a name with the breed of rabbit in it since rabbit breeds change.

I agree, either something involving the location, personal meaning to the owner or, rabbits in general at the most, not breed specific.

It has to be something unique as well. With something like Midnight Rabbitry, there are so many variations (Midnight Madness Rabbitry, etc) that it becomes confusing to buyers. With Hoppin' Half-Pints rabbitry, there aren't a whole lot of people that have rabbitries with a similar name. Thus, people will know ME, and not someone else. Does that make sense? :?

I agree that naming based on breed is not a good idea. When I got my first rabbits (Rex), I doubted I would ever get another breed. But then Rabbitosis Acquireosis struck me, and I now have Lionhead/Rex crosses, a couple of Jersey Woolies, a few Beverens, a lonely American Blue buck, and Satins. My real focus is on the Rex and Satins though, at least for now.

I would also be hesitant naming after location, since people do move. I would suggest that she "brainstorm" and write down all of the descriptive words that come to mind when she thinks of her rabbits; love, happy, joy, furry, fuzzy, hopping, leaping, cavorting, whiskers, ears, rabbit, bunny, kit... and then combine them to see which have a "ring" to them.

She should take her time until she finds a name that feels right to her. It took me forever to find my name "Victory Garden Rabbits", but I think it was worth the wait.

During WWI and WWII, the government encouraged people to plant "Victory Gardens" as part of the war effort, and some people raised rabbits as part of that. Being a "prepper", it is my way of snubbing my nose at the current administration, since raising my own food and meat qualifies me as a domestic terrorist. :twisted: Since I raise for both show and meat, the term Victory is appealing since hopefully someday I will have a barn full of winning rabbits!

I ended up using my last name in mine, and that's why they are Broadway Stars. The Stars part has been fun. I've been naming all the buns after actors, cartoon series, etc. The GCs are all Gone with the Wind. I have a Gunsmoke series. I just named my latest keeper Rock Hudson, because he has buns hard as a rock! lol. That aged me though. My youngest daughter told me she had to google Rock Hudson to know who that was. LOL!
