I recently started raising rabbits. I've had this one since 7 weeks, and she is about 12 weeks old now. About a week and a half ago, I started to notice her ear is floppy. Is this something to worry about? Also, is it a genetic trait?

Thanks,
Randall

Unless there is lop in the background, it is likely just developmental... it seems like some bunnies go through this (I know mine have!) and some are affected by heat and get wilty, others, it just seems to be the cartilage figuring itself out.

Apparently, some rabbits lop or partially lop in the heat. Usually, the ears go back up later.

I've never heard of it being a serious concern unless maybe, in breeding show rabbits, it's a genetic trait one wants to avoid.

We've had a couple of bunnies do this to us, it never was anything bad, and I'd be surprised if it ever was. Here's two of our first bunnies that did this:

Although their father was a lop eared and their mother was a standard eared. ;)
