Okay as promised I finally took some pics of our chicken coop that we converted into a rabbit shed.. I went with a shelf because hanging cages scares me. We havent got the other 2 large cages for the does (I dont have the does just yet) but they will go to the right. I do have a heat lamp in there because it's cold af right now but I made sure that they can get away from the heat if it's too hot. Let me know what yall think or if I should change anything.

I'm not sure why you would need a heat lamp in Texas. It is cold for you, but not for the rabbits. Growers in areas where it is routinely below 0° F. don't use heat lamps.

Well I would rather the heat be there just incase they need/want it. And like i said they have plenty of space to get away from the heat if they want.

yes, I was going to say the same thing about heat - the rabbits like cold a lot more than heat. When it gets to 50, they start stretching out like it's hot LOL. They are fine to 0 although I try to give them a box to get into if it's cold - but most of them never get in the box (except to go to the bathroom lol)

If it is freezing for more than 24 hours, I put an oil radiator in the rabbitry but that is for ME not them, - if I can keep their water from freezing it makes my life a lot easier LOL.

No heat needed rabbits do better in the cold then in the heat.
They wear a fur coat year round and cover the kits with fur.

@Denzim @MnCanary Question: I live not far from @Rogers92 The weather here is SO variable and my rabbits are bred for thinner coats. For instance it was 21 degrees this morning and it will be over 70 in a few days. I did put a heating pad under the very young kits when the weather was in the 20's and I'm thinking my rabbits may not be as able to handle cold as well as a 'normal' rabbit. Any thoughts? They are protected from wind but their 1/2 gallons of water has frozen completely solid at times.
