I am noticing an interesting pattern in some rabbits. I am working on Sallander and i see they have what I like to call a 'racing stripe' that curves over their hind leg. It is visible in tortoiseshells too. You can see it here...

Now that I look carefully at my red kits, I see it as well!

Does this marking have a name? Do you see it in other colors too?

All the time on my Castors and Ambers in Rex. Sometimes on the chins, though their surface color is better than my other agoutis. As far as I know, that's what they call it.

Remember that sallander is basically a torted chinchilla so they should look like a white and grey version of a tort which have a similar pattern but in orange and black :)

Sall = aa B_ cchd_ D_ ee
Tort = aa B_ C_ D_ ee

So is that wave-like racing stripe a tort thing? No wait.... then it wouldn't show up on castors and chestnuts, right?
