Okay so we got Lego at 10 weeks old and he is now 6 months old. He is doing great. A feisty little rabbit. Here are my questions about food:
1. If Walmart and Tractor Supply are the only options for rabbit pellets, which brand is the best?
2. On an average, how long can one bag of rabbit food be kept before it molds?
3. Will the mold be obvious? We have had this bag for a few months and it still looks the same. The bag is closed and it's on a concrete floor in a dry basement. I am scared to death I will make him sick by not noticing that it has molded.
4. He is now old enough for other foods like fruits and veggies. Are these necessary or just for fun?
5. What do you think about probiotics? I think this will be stressful leaving him for two weeks and want him to be as healthy as possible.
Thank you all for your help. I don't know what I would do without the advice here.
OH UPDATE on our Christmas trip - there is a pet store in town that also does boarding. They have two lop rabbits that live in the pet store full time (owner's husband ended up being allergic but the lady wanted a place she could still pet, hold, etc... them so this pet store agreed to let them live there in this enormous multilevel hutch). So anyway, that store has agreed to let Lego stay there. He will have his own cage and play yard. During the times someone is in the store (10-7 everyday) he will be allowed to roam freely in the play yard. When no one is there, he will be in his cage - just like at home. They have rabbit knowledge since they take care of two all the time and use a local vet who also is familiar with rabbits. The employee who will be doing most of the care also has rabbits. She said they will take him out and hold him and play with him everyday as well. I don't think I could have found a better solution. And all this for $8 a day!
