One of my babies has turned out to be chinchilla but his eyes have a ruby cast. The last time I had a chinchilla one in a litter it didn't have the ruby cast and I'm wondering why this one has it. Also, if you want to breed BEW is chinchilla one of the colors that is not compatible? I'm confused about chinchilla because it seems like it is listed in both the shaded group and in the agouti group so not sure if I am supposed to avoid it as I want to breed for BEW.

And also is the dark grayish one sable? or siamese sable? Will it get lighter as it get older?

I breed Amerrica Chinchillas, they only come in chinchilla or dilute chinchilla (AKA squirrel or blue chin)

Mine always have a ruby cast as kits and their eyes darken as they age EXCEPT in blue chin's. The brown and blue eyed rabbit in the picture looks like it might be an opal (AKA blue agouti) so your chin may be a blue chin and has a double dose of ruby cast from his dark shaded gene "cchd" (AKA the chinchilla gene).

The smokey brown kit looks like a Siamese sable and will lighten with age. This gene causing this is the light shaded gene (cchl)

All 3 of these genes (dilute, dark shaded and light shaded) will modify the blue eye in a BEW and it are not recommended for a BEW breeding project

So the opal isn't recommended for BEW either? because I wanted to keep one of the Opals because I think she has the nicest head shape I think and I wanted to keep a female- the nice vienna marked one is a male and I want a female. I also have a black female but her head is not as wide- narrow between the eyes, but its square. Is opal not good because its a dilute or is it not good because it can have a ruby cast?

Opals are not recommended because they are agouti. Generally shaded and agouti don't mix, then there is chin, and it's not recommended to breed chins to other agouti groups.
