What is the minimum amount of time you would keep a new rabbit in quarantine?

I have a total of 3 rabbits, 2 does that I got at the end of Sept and a buck that I got this past Monday. The buck is being kept in the garage and the does are in a separate building.

The does were bred the day before I got them but I suspect that one if not both didn't take. They are first timers as am I. If they did take they will be due on the 29th. So not much longer.

The buck so far appears to be healthy and happy and without issues. My concern is that I strongly suspect one doe to not be pregnant and don't want to feel like I am wasting time waiting for something that isn't going to happen.

So, with all that being said, what is the minimum amount of time you would keep your animals in quarantine?

A little history about myself....I raise and milk dairy goats and cows. I also have horses, chickens, a variety of dogs and cats. So, when coming up the correct terminology in referring to rabbits, their pregnancies and such and stumble for words because rabbits are new to me.

A month.
If the trip stressed them, they will show it in that time.
If not and they are carrying something, they will still infect your stock, no mater the QT time.

I have nothing to add except I hope you get a pleasant surprise in the nestbox(es)! :)

I agree with a full month's quarantine. Cutting corners is not a good idea.

As far as the does go, treat them as pregnant even if you think they missed. Make sure they get their nest boxes on Day 28. So many people have been sure their does missed and then lost litters that were born on the wire.

We do a full 30 days also. Although we're running out of QT space the way I keep acquiring new rabbits... Chewy and Hans are in the same cage for the QT period, as they are only 6 weeks old and small enough.

30 days, but considering extending it. I had brought a few home from show, they were in the same vehicle/area so kept them inside away from everything else. On day 34, 1 was blowing snot....thank goodness I had been lazy about moving them out. Wasn't food or ventilation problem. Now waiting another 30 days to see on the ones left :(

Ouch, and good to know!

I am glad I asked.

I will just move forward with my original plans and keep the buck separated till late November.

I do hope the does are both bred! I am really looking forward to new life here on the farm! :)
