So Pyometra is a uterus filled with pus due to an infection

So a friend has a satin that she has been trying to breed, she had one litter, but lost them due to scattering on the wire, so she was rebred, and has been for a number of cycles (I think about 6 months has passed since the first litter)

Anywho the day before she is due to fly to Maryland, I'm over and she asked me to palpitate this doe and offer a guess on how much longer as she was about day 30
I felt a single solid mass about the size and shape of an avocado, there was no evidence of any kits. I told her this and that I didn't think she was pregnant, rather that it was either a tumor or infection.

This was last week, the next day (day she was flying out) she dosed the doe with oxytocin.
Today I was over for supper with her friend, who's widowed and lives with her. I went and checked this rabbit, cause I promised I would. She pulled hair, had a pink discharge of a thick consistency in the middle of a rather worn down nest. I palpitated again, the uterus felt the same, her rear was messy, and now in addition of the main mas there was horn about an inch wide and 2 or so long coming off the side of the anterior end.

Questions
at this stage is it something ABX alone can treat (cause Im thinking its something that either need to be irrigated out or surgically drained)
If you did treat it, do you think there is any chance of fertility?

I dont know about rabbits, but in dogs pyo is life threatening and 9 times out of 10 the dog has to be spayed. If it is an open pyo sometimes high doses of antibiotics can work but the dog will always be prone to having another pyo. Closed pyo's are always spayed with good results as long as the uterus hasnt ruptured.

I've only dealt with it in big livestock and then irrigation is pretty easy so was the usual treatment a few times a week along with antibiotics.

I got the reply, she's been traveling by car all day, so it took a while, and the rabbit is going to be put down.
