So I was trying to take photos of my new buck, and while trying (unsuccessfully) to photograph a supposed split penis (couldn't get him to stick it out far enough to show it flaring), I noticed at least two little white "pimples" on his prepuce...what IS this???

Sorry the photos aren't great, hard to hold a rabbit with one hand, evert his penis with another hand, and take a photo with another hand...you see the dilemma, right? ;)

If the buck has been used for breeding, they are very likely exactly what they look like. I won't go so far as to say sexually transmitted disease, but they are.

I was told by a judge that a shot of penicillin will clear that right up.

Oh, and it is contagious. Don't breed him until it's cleared up, and wash your hands before handling another rabbit.

I have a buck with that. That's how I decided which one to keep and which one to eat. =D

Some things I read on it said to just pop them and move on; others said it was a form of vent disease and needed to be treated with antibiotics.

Hmmm. Since I just brought him home, I will wait a week before I do much...but then a round of penicillin wouldn't hurt, I wager. I'll watch the doe, too...he's been in contact with her. :|

Somehow, popping rabbit penis pimples doesn't seem like fun, so...I'm just gonna monitor how he goes and let 'em be.

Thanks guys!!!

Who says it has to be fun. LOL. Pop it and put some Neosporin salve on it.

Won't that hurt???? I mean, I have skin issues so I get the occasional little pimple thing and they HUUUURT. And that's my FACE, those are on his junk. OW OW OW!!!

And won't he just lick off the neosporin? I doubt that's a good thing to eat...

Don't think about it too hard, do it quick and it will be over before he knows what pinched him. :cry_baby: I haven't had any bad results from dabbing a little Neosporin on, on the few times I've had to use it. If they licked it off, it didn't seem to hurt them.

My buck with a similar pimple got his popped yesterday. I picked him up to check and just moving the fur to look at it emptied it out - no pinching necessary.

Unfortunately I know what is IN that pustule...and I don't wanna touch it. Latex gloves or at least a kleenex barrier, then copious quantities of hand sanitizer are needed!!!

Pus, I assume...and when I studied the lymphatic and immune system in people, I learned what pus IS. :runhills:

It's like the day I learned that there are microscopic arachnids that live on EVERY PERSON'S FACE. Next time you feel lonely, remember: you are NEVER alone. A bunch of tiny spider-relatives live on and IN your FACE.

NEVER..........ALONE. :eek:verreaction:

__________ Sat Sep 28, 2013 1:53 pm __________

Also, Cute-thulu is cute. ;)

I aught to post a pic of one of my bumper stickers: it's Cthulu themed. ;)
