Royal failed again...not happy. Rebred. Getting tired of it...

Navy, another first timer, had her kits!
Sire G.
Interesting colors....lilac otter??? Can't be, right? Didn't breed her to anyone else, since G did a great job getting 4 fall offs right away! Have it on video, since I wanted an updated video of his breeding style, as he grunted the first time and usually is dead silent.

The clear greenhouse tarp. Heat and light in, cold wind out!

Weights of the younger group. A few doing well, bunch in between. Some culls showing up, but I just fed the dogs, so they'll stay until next week.

if everyone else is producing, why are you keeping a rabbit (Royal) who is missing in breeding, particularly if you are at the stage of being tired of it. I know people like to say three and done, but my standard is... if EVERYONE else is doing their job and one is refusing to do so (for whatever reason) I don't keep you after two attempts.

She's not the only one. Can't kill them all willy nilly. 4 generations to get to her, not going to throw that away easily. Also has the excellent rex fur. Already killed one with excellent fur and long line, can't keep getting rid of them.

it can be a hard call can't it be. Try running her with a buck for three weeks if she's not mean. Make it a large enough pen so they can get some exercise while being around each other constantly. Sometime it helps too, with those difficult does, to cut feed by half for three weeks, and then to increase it again a day or two before trying to breed. DO NOT DO THIS in a cold winter!!

Tried to get someone to make tiny gravity waterers to my specs, but was quoted an obscene cost per bowl. (50-60$) I have a tig welder, just haven't learned how to use it yet. Guess now I have to!

That time again, weekly weigh-in & culling decisions!

Check out those Malty numbers! 8 weeks and 5 pounds! Over 5 pounds! 🥳

Cruella kits are 9wks and nearly 5#, so also doing great, considering the breed.

Tealy kits are awful, but shape is nice on some. Will have to think about what to do, keep best to keep working them into something better or cut the line out and more on.

Three from last week culled out for dog food this morning.
8-9 kits moved to cull cage.

Weights of 2 of these is off, bc I missed who was who.

Culls of these will now be either fed out for freezer or sold, so staying with mom until then.
