We had a stray adopt us back in October... she had a scar on her belly so we thought she was fixed. Nope, she wasn't fixed :x .

Fast forward to puppies born on Easter! Little mama (a feist/jack russel mix, the best we can tell) had 7 pups! They are about 8 weeks old now. Had their first set of shots at 6 weeks. We have sent 3 off to their new homes, 1 will go when they move into a new apt, 1 currently unspoken for (the first people that were interested fell through), and we planned on keeping two. The two we picked out ended up being the calmest of the bunch - 2 of the 3 females. They played well together, everything was fine. Yesterday they ended up fighting... not at all playing. Blood was drawn, injuries sustained. We're not sure what to do. We think something might be wrong with one of them (Scout). All the others, including the mama, keep smelling her rear end. The 8 week old male even started humping her! At one point the mama dog was all over her, standing over top of her, pushing her around. I don't know if hormones are changing for her already?? If she's sick and they can sense it? On top of it all, my oldest's pup (Star) has a hurt leg now and isn't putting any weight on it (injured in the fight yesterday - very swollen joint. She'll let me move it a little, but definitely has pain). He (my son) is the one mentioned in another thread about how it seems to always be his animals we have issues with and lose - his sadness today is breaking my mama heart  .

We have tried researching and have since learned that raising sibling pups isn't always a great idea. We are planning on getting different pens set up this weekend to get everyone separated out in hopes that might calm things down (we do have the one in a separate area). Still doesn't answer our questions about the one pup though. Why is she the target for all the others? We thought she was dying last night - it was almost like she had something stuck in her throat. She was eating just fine, then started whimpering and pawing at her face. We picked her up and brought her inside where she went kind of limp in our arms and was acting really weird. I know during the fight the other pup had a pretty good grip on her face so maybe it was sore/swollen and I just couldn't see it?

Any ideas??

And now the one (Scout) has liquid poop... crud

 So sorry for your boy...I know how hard this can be on a kid. I don't have any answers for you, just wanted to extend my sympathy...sometimes animals have something wrong that isn't seen I would think the vet did a check when you got shots..It is probably to long for it to be a reaction to the shot?? It could just be something he ate, puppies put everything in their mouths. You can try to feed it rice, if you cook it in broth it may taste better to him. I had an adult dog who had eaten an Aloe Vera plant, this worked for her,it saved her life. For the little one with the injury maybe a half of a low dose aspirin..chewable type. It should help with inflammation and pain...

I hope scout gets better soon.

Unfortunately you will most likely have to keep the girls separated for life. Its often said in the dog world that 2 dogs can fight and makeup but b!tches never forget! Some of the most vicious attacks are between females. :(
I would rethink the idea of keeping 2 siblings as long as Scout isn't sick she may do better in another home.
