At 4:55 she was fine, not very hot out here today lots of cloud cover. She was due to have kits thursday,at 5:20 went outto check on another doe and found her dead. Do rabbits die like this with no warning. :( :( :(

Unfortunately, yes, they sometimes do. It's sad, but don't - for goodness sakes - think it was anything you did or failed to do. Some rabbits seem to have weak hearts... may have been that.

Sadly, in the blink of an eye....they'll be gone. One moment they appear to be fine and the next their dead.

Grumpy.

Aww- sorry Tracie. Sometimes they just die for no apparent reason. :(

It could have been the heat and added stress of being pregnant. I have several does bred right now despite the heat, because I want to breed for heat tolerance in my herd. I hope I don't lose any, but it may happen and I have resigned myself to it.

I lost one of the most beautiful red satin does in such a way. She was fine when I watered her at lunch, and was barely alive when I got home. She died in my arms shortly afterward.

The weak heart condition Maggie mentioned is the only reasonable explanation I have ever been able to come up with. It does happen, so don't get down on yourself for it.

Sorry to hear of this. I lost one at the end of May, a few days shy of kindling, came out in the morning and she was gone.

Me too, lost a lovely Choco Rex doe the same way...it happens. So sorry...{{{hugs}}}
