We have two Californian does and one New Zealand white buck, all are about six and a half months old, they weigh 6# 15oz and are healthy. I've tried to breed them, when I put a doe in with Buck, they go in circles and back into a corner, when he finally gets behind them they are hunched in a ball, when I hold them in position, Buck wont mount, he switches to oral pleasures. shouldn't a receptive doe lay sort of flat with her tail up. are my girls immature? their genitalia seem to be the right coloration but being new to rabbits I'm not sure. Is there some thing I can do? or will it just take more time.
Thanks, Tom

Tom,
I believe they are a little too young.
I usually wait till they reach senior weight,
or eight months old whichever comes first.
The rabbits will mount each other whether they are two Does,
two Bucks or one of each sex. It is done as a show of dominance.
You see litter mates doing it to get their rank in the lineup.
Even if they appear to be ready, you do not want to breed them too early
as it will stunt their growth. They use the energy they should use to grow
to feed and nourish the growing embryos.
Ottersatin.
