My brother is interested in getting a chocolate broken Polish, but he only has a half butterfly that looks like a mustache. Is this a DQ? He would be used for 4-H.

Thanks,

The lady said that is ears are long for a Polish. This is why she priced him lower than the rest. He is SUPER DUPER CUUUUTEEEE!!!!!!!!! And only three months old. :) We have to give the lady an answer so if I could get some advice ASAP, that would be wonderful. :) Thanks again.

__________ Wed Mar 19, 2014 9:23 pm __________

Here is a link to the ad with pictures http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/pet/4364822982.html

For show he must have at least a little color in the nose bed. A full butterfly is ideal, but he should be fine. :)

His ears are a little long, make sure you check that they are shorter than the max ear length in the SOP.

Okay we are going to measure his ears with a tape measurer. Half butterfly and long ears are faults then? How much points would we loose. And I don't have the SOP yet. :(

Half-butterflies aren't a fault, per say, it's just a full butterfly is preferred. Half-butterflies are perfectly fine, and from the picture he looks like he has enough color overall to be showable. Long ears are a fault, but he may have other good points so as to make up for it. Besides, if your brother is using him for 4-H and showmanship, long ears are better to grip when you flip him over. :D

Showmanship is a great way to build up your skills checking a rabbit. Think of it as graded evaluation of your rabbit.

Of course, you don't have to do it, but I would recommend it strongly. When I first started 4-H I was extremely scared of getting in front of people and putting on a presentation. After doing it for 5 years, it has seriously advanced my public speaking skills. Part of that is showmanship, which helps with memorization and talking in front of a person.

Okay I told him what you said but of course though he can play 1st chair tuba in front of 300 people but he won't answer one person's questions or handle his in front of the like 50 people that watch our fair's rabbit show because he is being evaluated and not the rabbit.

Anyway we got the rabbit he's SO SO SO TIIIINYYYYY!!!! He was named Butterfly and that's what's on his pedigree but my brother is calling him Picasso. I have an adorable video or some pics I may be able to upload later.

I also have another question sorry.
I will be showing Softfall (info on my signature) in the normal show. But since Picasso has a better temperament could I do showmanship with him since my brother isn't going to or does it have to be with your rabbit?

Of course! At least, when I do showmanship, I can use whatever rabbit I like. I don't know how it is at your 4-H shows, but you don't register what rabbit you are using for showmanship.

Sorry, that came out wrong. I mean you don't tell the secretary what rabbit you are using.
