Playtime for rabbits?

So I plan on keeping my 1-2 rabbits outdoors in a 30x24x18. How much time should they get out of the cage? And how much space do they need to play? I was thinking about getting a harness, so they have more room to explore. Or is it better to make an enclosed area. What size should the enclosed are be? Thanks.

You can make the area as big as you like or can afford. Longer is better than a square, they love to run and hop, not go in circles.
An hour 2x a week seems to be enough to keep them excited about going out there. Too long or too often and they just lay around sleeping or start digging.
