Looking back at my original notes for cage sizes, I'd planned on 48"x30" cages for my does, but based on the recommendations of more experienced breeders I went with 24"x30" for the does (upped from 24" square), and 24" square for bucks (upped from the recommended 24"x18"). Even though it would have cut my available capacity in half, I almost wish I'd gone for the larger cages for the does- they can raise their kits in the available space, but it isn't as much fun for them or their kits.
I am trying to offer them more space to frolic in, and have plans to convert our Silkie Chicken coop into a rabbit run, as well as completely fencing the BunnyBarn in for a play area, and hopefully will be able to add some larger cages for does about to kindle. But all of that will take time and money, so will be added as we can. I hope that I have made a good start- I try to keep a pleasant and clean rabbitry, and am offering a variety of food and toys to keep them happy as they are currently housed- but I recognize that I have a lot of room for improvement.
