The neighbors have a ton of outside cats that they feed in their barn, and they always seem to have new ones coming in as ferrals. They always tend to make their way over here in our yard, and I'm afraid if I plant catnip, the cat train will be non-stop!
We get a fair number of feral cats passing through here. Now and then one will take up residence in one of the storage sheds. Marilla spends hours at night staring out watching for them. She paws the glass when she catches sight of one and then races from window to window trying to follow it. Good exercise!
Poor tortured Marilla! My lazy bunch wouldn't even dream of wasting such energy. Either that, or they are just used to it now since it happens so often.
Ah, she enjoys it! She does a lot of windowsill patrolling. Lots of birds, cottontails, chipmunks to entertain her in daytime.
Once there was one outside when Brian had her out with her harness and leash. She went after it and broke the metal snap on her leash. Don't ask me how a 10 pound moggie can break a metal snap.
Down into the bush the other cat ran, with Marilla in hot pursuit. We were frantic with worry and went after her. Met up with her down by the chicken house. She was slinking back, low to the ground. I guess she reached the edge of "her" territory or else realized that she was too far from home.
