A bit too far for me :) but I'd love to hear all about it if you go.

I am going to go. One of my favorite show. It is usually a large show and pretty well run.

I am planning to be there, though I'll have to drive all night to get there.

__________ Fri Feb 17, 2012 4:53 am __________

You can say that again. Just about any breed of rabbit a breeder would want to see, and they're usually all pretty well represented. Last February, the showroom there was full and many breeders had their rabbit carriers in the hallway. Judging tables are set up about 3/4ths of the way around the show arena.

I'm picking up a trio of Red Satins and a trio of Cal Satins. Also picking up a pair of Chinchilla Satins for another breeder down here.

It was pretty well attended again this year, first class called at 9:00 and the last class finished up around 5:30 I guess. Very well run again as expected. It was a double show.
I show Champagne d'Argents. I took jr bucks and does, sr bucks and does. All my intermediates turned sr a couple days before the show so some went as srs. One was right at the weight limit and was DQed in the first show, 5ozs under, so he was pulled for the second show.
I lost count of how many ints were shown but I belive there must have been 30 or so total Champagne's shown.
Ok here it is
In show A I won Sr Buck, Sr doe, Jr Buck and Jr. Doe, and BOB.
In show B I won Sr. Buck, Sr Doe, Jr. Buck and Jr. Doe, BOB, BOS, Best 6 Class and Best in Show.
We got very good comments from the judges on the quality of all the Champagne's shown.

CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!

Congratulations, indeed! That was a heckuva Champagne you ran across the table!!!

I was glad not to be driving in ice and snow on the way up, but was equally as glad that the temperature was a balmy 22 degrees when I rolled into town at 6:00 a.m. I absolutely LOVE cold weather!!!

The place has judging tables stretching approximately 3/4ths of the way around a rather large arena. Very well run is an understatement. Clubs which cannot get control of their tardiness in getting things started owe it to themselves, their clubs, and their exhibitors to go there and attend it from the time the first rabbits enter the showroom until the last ones leave and just watch how it's done. How that Peoria club manages to do it year after year is beyond me, but it's super efficient from the "e" to the "t".

I didn't really expect to do much in either show to be totally honest with you. Satins are normally very competitive in Peoria with some of the breed's best exhibitors in the country in attendance and this year was no exception, but in Show B, I somehow managed to take BOB with my Blue Sr. Buck, BB King. I was so shocked when it happened, and I don't think the reality of it all has sunken in on me yet.

Compared to most shows I will attend this year, the place was an absolute zoo. There was an incredible number of rabbits and very little room to walk between the number of rabbit carriers and the numbers of exhibitors in there. Compared to the rest of the wins I've ever scored over the years, this was by far the best and most surprising one yet, not so much because it was a BOB, but where it happened.

And just a tidbit of info for those of you who may find this kind of stuff interesting: The site where they hold the show every February is a few miles up the street from the burial place of Susan Komen.

Lostspring, did you happen to catch what was the total count of rabbits entered there on Sunday? If I were guessing at it, I'd say somewhere in the neighborhood of 1100-1200. Does that sound about right?
