My friend had a NZW Cal cross that she noticed had some lumps near it's mammary tissue. She culled it and found the following upon opening it up. Each of the lumps had a cheesy, white puss. There were a bunch of them.

This would be a sign of systemic pasteurella, correct?

The structure in the second picture is an ovary.

Had this doe ever had a litter? If the lumps were in her mammary tissue, it could be that she had mastitis. All rabbit pus has that toothpaste like consistency, and does not necessarily indicate the dreaded "P"... although I always treat it as though it is unless I know that the rabbit had a wound that became infected.

Even then, I wonder. :paranoid: Pasteurella is a very opportunistic organism and enters the body through wounds as well as the respiratory tract.

I had a doe get a bot fly maggot in her dewlap and after its removal pus formed in the wound tract. In that case I did treat her, but if I had a rabbit with multiple abscesses or ones caused by an unknown, I would automatically cull.

I culled a few bucks that were left together too long once. They had similar looking puss pockets all over underneath their skin. I had just assumed it was from pasturella or another opportunistic bacteria entering the wounds from the other rabbit's mouths.

Actually, it reminds me of the puss pockets that I found underneath the skin of an older ewe.

Was thinking it was the ovary! I had her send the photos after dispatch and that's what she was thinking that one was!

Yes, this doe has had litters in the past. She was a foster doe. My Rabbit Production book, 9th ed, was saying that pasteurella can sometimes surface as abscesses internally and contain a lot of puss.
