About 3:30 pm.. if need be hubbys agreed to help me flip her in the morning if they have sunken bellys am pretty sure she has more babys then teats..

The thread also refers to having the doe, in your lap, and letting the babies attach from under her, the normal way. It does suggest, (no matter which way you try) having a large towel, under the doe, in case babies go airborne, because the doe tries to skedaddle.

are the Popples, from the rabbits, that you bought from MSD? Did she have 8 or 9, how do they look, all about the same size?

__________ Tue Sep 04, 2012 11:47 pm __________

I just read the chat box, you have support. Glad you knew how to use the chat box! How is your mama rabbit doing?

Mommas doing great running around the house staying close by, shes laying with one eye around the corner so she can see the box the babys in but see the rest of the house too.. Shes eating fine. She is more friendly then ever.. Pawing at you being bossy.. its the babys am just worrying about now.. Waiting to see if she feeds them by morning, still no fur pulling besides the 1 big mouth full about 1 mins before the first baby.
She get some hay and then just makes a mess of it dont think she gets the whole nest and nurse yet.
Not sure if theres 9 or 8 i moved them once but she was still having them at that point and they move fast for newborns.. one got though the wire on to the cold floor in mins before i moved them to a tub. Most are roughly the same size and color with 1-2? that are smaller.. going to check them each out in the morning when its quiet and shes/they had time to rest/settle.

and yes the popples are out of trio i got from MSD.. Hoping to replace a lost doe soon with some other broken for color/brokens

- IF, MSD gave you any other suggestions, take MSD's first.
I am wondering if the does milk has come down. Did the doe eat the after birth? You may have to get a kit(s) on to the doe, to get the milk to come down. After she nurses them a time or two, she may wake up, that the babies are her's.
- when you go to sleep, I would put the nest box, up where the doe, can not get to it - for now.
- do you have a nest box, that has a lip, that would keep the babies in the box, when the does gets out of the box?

Yea i have metal large nestbox with the lip to keep the babys from falling out.. she still ignoring the nestbox.. but this morning i picked her up put her in the tub with the babys and it seems she went right to nursing/resting in the box.. she been there with them for about 10 mins.. after she get out am going to check all the babys for round tummys.. She just jumped out and ran off, so going to check babys..

I kept the tub were she could get in if she wanted as far as i can tell she didnt tell i put her inside.. Yes she eat the after birth whatnot she cleaned up the kits too then ignored them all night.. LOL

I have been forgetting, do we get to see, too? Please? Babies! :camera:

Final count of 8 babys! all are warm/hot to the touch and made it though their first night!
Most seem to be nice and rounded bellied.. One of big round ones ear is torn not sure if the mom did it throwing them around trying to make a nest or what.. :( Two little runts might need extra nipple time the next couple days but neither have a flat/sucken belly yet.. Other wise all seems to be good..

Yay! Full tummies! :D

I think she did pretty well for a first-timer. :) Don't worry about the torn ear, it will heal up just fine. :)

:congratulations: on a nice first litter!!!

Nice! I am impatient, to breed, but my rabbits still have a bit of time in quarantine.
At least I get to live vicariously. Thank You!

Am happy to say all 8 are still alive and sometime last night she pulled fur and made them a real nest.. just a few days late but better late then never.. :) all is doing good! So pleased..

What a good mommy! Maybe since it finally cooled down a bit she felt they needed a fur blanket! :)

Heres the runtiest of the litter.. Am making sure he/she get at least 3-4 mins a day sucking but he/she dont seem to be putting on weight like the others yet.. Hoping am getting enough into him/her in a couple mins a day and between her nursing he/she will be okay.

They look wonderful! I am glad your first experience is going so well, and that mama is a spoiled house bunny right now, too. :)

Woo Hoo! So glad to see the runt is doing well and catching up with his litter mates.
