My doe started pulling fur and making a nest at 5:00am on day 32. At 8:00am we checked on her and there was one baby on wire outside the cage, dead. Couldn't see any movement in the nest box so we left her alone thinking she would have the others in the box. I got home at 5:00 pm and checked the nest box and nothing. No more babies and no sign of blood or anything. Just fur and hay. Do you think she just had only the one or did she eat the rest? This is her first time.

I have a doe that recently had one stillborn baby and that was it. I suppose she could have had more, and just consumed all but that one. She was very late.

It was her second breeding. We had lost our buck, and she went a long time without breeding. I've since rebred her. Sure hope this goes better. :(

It is possible yours had more and just cleaned up well. I have some does that you would never know had given birth -- it just seems the kits materialize in the nest. No blood, everything is dry and clean as a whistle.

There's no way to know, though. By the way, if it's still day 32 or thereabouts, make sure to leave the nestbox in for at least a few more days. It's also possible that she's just not finished yet.

Well when I checke on her this morning (day34) there was a baby on the wire that she dad been eating on. The body looked longer than normal like it was deformed. I don't know what the heck is going on.

It sounds to me like the kit was stuck,so she had to pull it out... :( That is why it looked stretched out and why it looked like she had been eating it. Rabbit teeth are sharp and the kit will get pretty torn up in the process of pulling it out..Give her a day or two to heal then breed her, for her health and your peace of mind. :)
