Took 18 rabbits to the show. Won my very first BOB & BOS with my own home bred bunnies. Fair was too cheap to even buy BOB ribbons for the adults.

I'm bummed. My very first wins with my very own bunnies, and not even a ribbon to take a picture with.

This, along with everything else that was a gigantic disaster at that show, is the reason why I don't know of a single person who said they would return next year.

Looking forward to Duncan in a couple of weeks tho! Now, if I can just get all this molting over and done with!

__________ Mon Oct 21, 2013 8:21 pm __________

Well, the show was 9-14. It is now 10-21 and I have yet to receive a show report, any legs, or specifically, any payout.

According to the show details, all BOB & BOS winners were to receive rosettes.
All 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places were to receive payouts. My rabbits were sanctioned by ARBA and this was an ARBA sanctioned show.

Tried to call the state fair show office. Got into the recording loop from heck.
I will try to call again tomorrow during the middle of the day.

Tried to call the show superintendent. Same deal as prior to the show when I was trying to offer assistance - no answer. I realize it is ARBA convention time, so I left a message.

I am a member of the LRCA and compete for points as well as legs (and cash).
I have heard that last year there were people who just gave up trying to get anything out of this show. Sorry, but I'm a little more pushy than that.

I know this is a long shot, but has anyone shown recently at this show and actually got what was promised?

To update - I was able to get ahold of a live person at the show office who assured me they just got the rabbit show paperwork from the superintendent a few days ago, and were feverishly entering the information. I should expect payout no later than Friday next week.

To be fair, she did call me today and I missed her call. Unfortunately, they work the same hours as I do, so trying to take care of this during my lunch hour. I won't be able to return her call tomorrow, but will try again on Friday.

While the monetary portion of it is being taken care of, I highly doubt the points, winnings and legs have been. To date, I still have not received a show report. Once I get the money, and convention is over and everyone is home, I will be notifying ARBA. One way or the other, my bunnies will get what they deserve.

As far as getting to go, it has been the only show that hasn't been at least a 2 hour drive. That was the only thing good about it. The show didn't begin until after 8:30 and I was literally home and unloaded by 2:00. I could have left much earlier as my breed was first, but I stayed until the bitter end for BIS.

The show wasn't where it was advertised to be. We were sharing space with the cattle, meaning we had air blowers to talk over all day. We had to load and unload at the back of the building, so had to maneuver over, around and thru cattle being led, cords in the floor, chutes spread all over everywhere. The livestock office didn't even open until a half hour late. There were crickets EVERYWHERE! Seriously thousands of them. The judges were not the ones advertised on the show catalog. AND I didn't get any stinking ribbons to take pictures of my very first BOB & BOS wins. Had I known it was going to turn out the way it did, I would have stayed home. I had a rabbit on display for the duration of the fair and was to receive free entry to check on her daily. That never arrived. I had to finagle a pass just so I could go pick her up at the close of the fair. Again, once I get the monetary part, the fair and I are going to discuss several things about this show.

Sorry to hear about all this headache! I doubt that I will enter if it is this much of a fubar!

See ya in Duncan :D

Well, the cash has arrived. Paid in full as promised. The girl handling everything said she was going to try to deal with ARBA herself, as far as getting the points, legs, etc. She was trying very hard to be helpful.
I left my number with her, for educational purposes. Let her know I was willing and available to help however was needed. Hopefully she follows up and gets thru to ARBA. Also hopefully next year, the show can be done better. I gave her several suggestions, and also pointed her towards some things that would help.
We will see if she ever contacts me again, or follows up with my offer to help.

__________ Thu Oct 31, 2013 9:28 pm __________

Wonders will never cease! I actually received my show reports and leg in the mail today. Haven't had a chance to look at them closely to see how correct they are, but at least something was done.
