:? Ok well I bred a few of my Cals on 7-29 and again on 7-30. Well to this point neither have had any kits. The buck that I bred them to I know is for sure a GREAT producer. My questions are.....

1) How long past the 31 days from first conception do you wait to breed again if they don't have the babies?

2) Is it true that they can go up to 34 days before they have there babies?

I ask these question because when I first started raising rabbits I had a doe that was saposes to have kits and didnt. So I put her in with another buck on day 33....well then on day 34 she had babies.....and then 31 days from that day she had another set of babies. I felt extreammly bad for puting my doe through 2 sets of babies so close and never wana have this happen again . Now all the babies from both kits turned out healthy but I still just dont wanna breed my does that close togather again. So if I have not TOTALLY confused you any help would be great. thanks in advance Nate

Rabbits can kindle any time between 28 days and 35 days, with 31 being the average/norm. Some have previously recommended putting the doe in with a buck to "hurry things along", though it does result in back to back pregnancies. I believe others have said a fruity tums can also help encourage a doe to kindle. I would say if she hasn't kindled by day 36, it would be a safe bet to rebreed then.

You bred the does on the last couple of days in July, right? What was your temps prior to those two days? Your buck may very well have been sterile if he'd been subjected to heat in excess of 90 degrees.

Something to consider.
