No matter how many times I put her nesting material in the box and move it to her chosen spot by the next time I go out she has it pushed over and all the material back in the corner. She's due to kindle today and has started pulling fur... not sure if I need to just wait, then move the kits over?

Oh, and I noticed she's borrowing fun from the doe nextdoor. Kind of obvious when a NZW has dark gray tufts in her mouth and next box  . I guess the other doe is getting too close to the wire... I noticed yesterday when the hutch door was open the NZW stuck her head around the corner and went for her with her mouth open. I thought it was more out of aggression, but maybe she just didn't want to pull her own fur this time :? There is some white mixed in so I guess she finally used some of her own.

-- Fri Oct 16, 2015 11:47 am --

8 babies in the nest!! - the nest on the wire :? . Cold weather is coming so I am guessing it would be best to move them...

Yep, scoop the whole pile up and put it in the box. She'll figure out the rest! Some does just like the free and open range over the box thing. But once the babies/nest is moved, she'll have no choice but to adopt the box.

My darling Tartar did the same thing. I provided a nest box with material and she emptied it a laid a thin coating of fur for 7 kits. Not technical on the wire but close enough :x I'm hoping that her next litter will go smoother.

I think I got them successfully moved. She had a pretty good "foundation" with the cardboard I had put in the bottom of the box (of course she shredded it once she got it out) and hay so I could get it in two big chunks, and they were exactly the same size as the box. I didn't even have to uncover the kits or anything, they all went in one big scoop!

Congrats!
I have three does due today and it is 0 degrees and snowing.
Only one is beating and she is doing it on the wire, so I keep movibg her nest box to that corner and putting her hay in the box... I think she is getting it now.

Going to be a long night wanting to ensure that none die on the wire in the cold!
