I've discovered I can't just try to feed a kit with a foster mom at any old time. Tried several times and the kit was sucking but got no milk. Looked like the kit would starve. I tried to let the kit feed first thinking it needed fed before the older kits. Still no milk. Finally I placed the new kit in her nest with the 2 week olds just before feeding time Afterwards the kit ballooned about twice the size.

From what I understand the doe must let her milk down. So the kits can only feed when she is ready..
Glad that you figured it out..fostering can be a challenge, good job! :clap2:

Yup. It can also work to put the doe in your lap, or against your chest, and let the kit nurse while you pet the doe. It takes her a few minutes to relax and let her milk down and, of course, you have to be careful she doesn't get upset and trample the kit.
