Ok so its been raining none stop here for 24hrs doe was due tomorrow she had all babies out in the rain i grabbed them and shoved them down my bra not sure how long they had been out there we had checked at 10am this am feed watered etc and she has a nice dry warm nest box. Found babies about 11.30am She has successfully reared 3 litters with no losses so this was a surprise she didnt pull any fur. Did she not pull fur because her fur was all wet from the drenching rain she often stays out in it instead of in her nice warm hut part.
So story is 3 revived from being stone cold and 2 didnt revive even tho they had been moving at some stage over the warming process i have them still in my bra so what do i need to do now she is oud only doe so cant foster.
How long do i leave them warming they have( 3) all turned a bright pink and feel warm now. Do i try to feed them tonight by flipping the mum or leave till tomorrow morning to make up the nest can i use lambs wool or is the lanolin in it too harsh?
Thanks for the advice hopefully we can pull these little fighters through!

First of all, nice save!

If the 'dead' babies have blood filled toenails, they're beyond redemption. A proper little burial after it stops raining will be in order.

Second, if you have dryer lint you can line the nest with (make sure there are no long hairs or threads mixed in with the lint) or tease cotton balls. I personally don't know about wool. You could also pluck your doe, which brings me to this...

Her milk may not have come in yet. Popples can go without feeding for a day or two. Pulling fur will stimulate milk production and letdown. You can also feed the doe some parsley from the grocery store to help her out. No mint!!! Mint dries up a doe. I know at walmart you can get a big bunch of parsley (Italian, curly, whatever) for about $1.50 or less.

Keep those youngsters together since they'll stay warmer that way. Your girl made get her nesting urge tonight after birthing, so leaving them with her tonight might be a bad idea. Take them to her tomorrow.

GOOD LUCK!!

English Spot gave great some advice. My dryer lint is always full of long Newfoundland hair, so I find myself shredding tissue paper when I need nest box filler. I also save fur from does who pull more than necessary. Just be careful not to use polyfill, or anything at all that can tangle up their appendages. I've seen some pretty graphic images of kits who lost limbs due to it.

Thanks for the encouragement and info she ended up having 5 babies plus a unformed really small sac thing only 2 babies survived but they seem to be doing well. Fingers crossed they survive glad i had read this forum before and had an idea of how to warm kits back up they all did revive to some degree but unfortunately 3 of them just stopped breathing even tho they got all pink again.
