Ahh, me and my questions again... XD
Well, Mag has 13 kits and no other does to foster some over to. I have my doubts as to whether she'll be able to make enough milk to feed them all. Stinging nettle helps with milk production, right? I doubt I can find the stuff growing wild, but would it be wise to buy a bottle of it in pill form to spread over her food? Or is there maybe something else I can give her to help besides pellets and hay? Or am I worrying too much?

You could buy a bag of kitchen oatmeal (like Quaker Old Fashion/Large Flake) and give her some of that every day. It's good for the kits too when they begin to sample solid foods.

If you do find nettles growing, remember that they have to be dried before giving them to the rabbit so that she doesn't get stung by them.

Went to give her some oatmeal, but she was a bit busy over the nest. lol Is there a certain amount I should give her?

Nyctra,

I hope you are "borrowing trouble" where none is. However, others have split large litters (or the doe did it herself) and feed each split 12 hours apart. The doe can and does produce milk 2x per day so each litter can get their ration, with the doe's body increasing production as the kit's demands increase.

Good luck!

Thanks AnnClaire - I was about to ask if I could do that! :D
The past couple days when I check the nest, it seems to remind her she'd ought to feed them and hops right in as soon as it's back in its corner.

LOL - more than likely, she is inspecting what you did to her babies ... I have one doe that will absolutely stuff to overflowing her nest box because of me taking it out and checking the kits. I'll have to get a before and after photo after she kindles next. This only happens the first week or so, once the kits start moving around pretty good, she relaxes and only wants to know whether I have a treat for her or not :D

I would do as suggested and split the litter and feed each group once a day. AND add the oatmeal but it needs to be actual oatmeal, not instant or quick cook. Fenugreek helps lactating human mothers but I don't know if it would help or hurt a rabbit. For info on lactation stimulants for women, check kellymom.com. Then check here to see if those are okay for rabbits :)
