You want to be careful to never add anything to a nest that can tangle around a kits limbs and cut off circulation.

I've seen some pretty gruesome images of what happened to kits after someone tried using polyfil..

Even when I use angora rabbit fiber, I trim it into short lengths before adding it to a nest.

 I'd think kits would get tangled in it.
And it's cheaper to save extra bunny fluff for later use. XD

You should not use anything with long fibers. I put in a layer of pine pellets for absorbency, sometimes a buffer layer of shavings, and then straw/hay. Right now I am just topping the pine pellets with this chopped straw I found. It is a little dusty compared to regular straw but so far works fine with no nestbox eye and then I give the does a bunch of hay.

Thanks all!! I've just started saving dryer lint as well. :)

There is so much great info in this forum. It should be organized into a book.

I use moss (raked from the lawn and completly dried) as base, absorbs liquid really good, is soft, warm and it is for free. Also use it for the toilet pans, why not use it before it ends on the compost pile.

The does add hay anyway, just need to sort out the green forage they sometimes stuff in there too.
