Absolutely! You won't want the strips very long, or they could wrap around the babies too tightly. But that should do fine as a nestbox material. :)

If you have any dryer lint, you can put that in there, too. You could even unstuff an old feather pillow to make them a nice, soft, warm spot.

__________ Wed Jan 02, 2013 11:47 pm __________

Shredded newspaper is another material some have used.

Interesting, never thought of that! I'll start keeping my old shirts. The momma's don't eat chew them up?

I wouldn't use dryer lint... if it gets wet it gets cold and soggy. Same reason it's a bad idea to put it out for birds' nests. I have used old wool sweaters (think Goodwill) cut up into 2" squares. If you get 100% wool, it's biodegradable, so when it's time to clean up, you can compost. Wool stays warm when wet, and is soft and fluffy.

I save fur from when I brush out the rabbits. I have a bag that all extra fur goes into. I save the extra fur when does pull too much and also when they have a false pg. Then, I have a stash to pull from when the does don't pull enough. Are trying to replace the hay or the fur?

What? I never thought of this! And I just went through my closet and through out all my shirts that have had too many claws put through them! Erghh... :x

I've used drier lint with no problems. But like deb said, make sure it doesn't get wet. If you're rabbits are in an inclosed area that doesn't get wet then they should be find. Make sure they aren't using the nesting box for a toilet either but that's for pretty much any material you put in there.
