I bred a rabbit on Sept 22, she was very receptive & let the buck cover her several times. This is a rabbit I got for free one week prior. Had been a pet & about 6 months old. As of yesterday she has a permanent haystache, & is piling hay in the corners of the solid floor part of her hutch (came with her).
Is this normal behavior so soon, or should I be expecting babies WAY sooner then planned? :campfire:
Meanwhile, my doe that is due next weekend is still devouring all her hay. :groooan:
Any thoughts?

I have does that start building nests that soon after being bred. If anything it's just annoying, since they constantly rId their hay feeder, piece by piece instead of eating it to build their nest, but I wouldn't worry too much. I do agree with Danya though, since you did get her so recently, it would be a safe bet to put a box in with her, just in case. I have gotten does before that people didn't know they were bred, so better safe than sorry!

One of our Does nested off and on for a cuople of months before she had her first pregnancy. Sometimes they just do these things, but I agree with the other post. You might be excpecting already.;)
As for the Due that's doe in a week. You may want to build one for her, but I've had them build the day before or day of too. Has she kindled before?
