fairly new to rabbits and i need some advice from the pros.

i have a doe that should have kindled several days ago, im now on day 33 and im wondering if the buck may have missed due to the heat waves we have had this summer. shes nested but pulled no hair and growls at the buck when i bring him near. does this sound like false pregnancy or could she just be late due to the wierd weather we have had this summer. how soon is too soon to rebreed?

i have one other doe that was bred a few days later and she began nesting around 15 days so im assuming she is falsely pregnant as well. ive tried to palpitate but i dont know what im really doing, however both rabbits look big in the midsection. i think the second doe is around day 25 right now.

getting antsy and tired of checking the nest box to find nothing 3 times a day.

Day 33 is not very late at all. You might try pulling a bit of fur from her flanks or belly and putting it in the nest. If she IS pregnant, the fur will pull out easily. Pinch a bit between your fingers and it should come out in tufts.

This sounds like a false pregnancy, but give her a nest on day 28 just to be safe.

You can try breeding either doe at any time. It wont hurt anything, and will NOT cause a "dual pregnancy". Breeding the one that is on day 33 may stimulate her to kindle. I would just leave her alone though- she will probably have her kits today or tomorrow anyway. :clover:

thanks, its Mark from THE Facebook rabbit group btw. but i deleted my fb account. both does have nest boxes and have built nests. ill give her a few more days before i start worrying if nothing happens ill rebreed her next week. ill start checking the doe that nested super early for color on a daily basis and try again when shes red. they got 6 and 5 fall offs when they bred, i will be surpised if neither produce

My experience with false pregnancy was that it was over by day 18 and 19, and she rebred on day 20 or 21. The fact that she is growly and not wanting to be around the buck is a good sign that she is still pregnant. And remember that whatever time of day they were bred can make a difference. For instance, if she was bred on the evening of day one, you many not want to count that day and could expect her to kindle in the evening. They are all different but I would wait it out a little longer.......

Yes, that's true! I have taken to writing a.m. or p.m. on the date bred. My does will usually kindle morning or evening depending on what time of day I bred them.

Morning of day 35, still no kindle. Put her in with a buck last night, no dice. She sits on her butt and growls. At what point do you give up?

Sounds like you better wait a couple more days to me. You're liable to have your buck castrated for free if you don't.

I usually go 38 days to be sure.
