Ok so this morning I go to check on the pregnant does and the experienced doe had her babies not in the nestbox, on the wooden floor. They were covered with fur but dead! There were two, no peanuts, and they were both cold, but not freezing. They weren't breathing. There was blood in the hay and some blood on the babies, and it seemed like the doe may have had trouble. The poor girl was hopping around, pulling fur like crazy, trying to get the dead babies to nurse, and licking them constantly. It seemed like she was devastated! She is usually such a good mother! But she has milk and no babies, what should I do? I have a Silver fox litter due today, should I foster kits when they are born? If they died from cold, what if the Silver Fox litter dies too?! And the Silver Fox is a first time mom and I think she'll be late since her mother was always day 32, I dunno....

If you tried to warm them up and they were still dead then that is all you can do for them..
If you want to dry up the doe mint sprigs will help..you can breed her back right away if you want sometimes the act of mating will expel any uterine contents..
As far as fostering some of the other new Kitts.. that is up to you.It shouldn't be a problem if she is still pulling fur and building a nest..just slip the babies in around dawn or dusk.
.if you remove the nest box it might effect the transfer though I don't really know, I have only fostered to doe with some of her own. Good luck with the next batch..and I am soo sorry you lost a litter
