Anyone ever been to the Nappanee Indiana rare breed show? We're tempted to head out there this weekend because the idea of rare breeds going up against just each other is an appealing one. But we are looking at numbers and are just curious at how big a turnout the show is. It is a 5 hour drive for us and we could go two hours west to Grinnell, Iowa for a show instead just with no rare breeds sanctioned. We just didn't want to show up and have us be the only rare breed showers there for Lilacs and Silver Foxes.

Even if your breed isn't sanctioned, they will likely be judging them, from what I understand. :)

Yea, but every show does that which is not a specialty show. Almost every show will even judge your rabbits that are currently in the COD process as presentation rabbits.

We already know our two rare breeds are sanctioned, that's not the issue. We don't want to drive all the way out there and have us be the only ones showing. We can do that just as well in Iowa for a lot less gas.

Contact the show secretary and ask them if any others are entered. Sometimes they will even contact other breeders of rare breed to alert them that there are prospective exhibitors.

It's a day of show registration. Sometimes we even ask at the deadline the day of the show to see if there's anybody in youth or not, and it still changes between the deadline and the time our rabbits get called to the table.

__________ Wed Mar 13, 2013 1:07 pm __________

I found this interesting. I contacted the show superintendent to see who was on the list and these are the 16 rarest breeds they picked:

Here is the short version
