I'm posting these for a friend. She says "Sire is broken castor. He came.from white momma and broken black Dad. Has otters in pedi. Dam to babies is nothing but castors. Im curious as to what these 2 are called."

These are standard rex. The dam has never produced a self but has always been bred to other castors. This is a first time cross.

Thoughts?

Id say fawn, not sure if it is called something else in Rex

Genetically they are castors but have the non-extension genes so sort of torted, or like a harequin without the harlequin or tri gene

= A_ B_ C_ D_ ee

first kit looks amber, the second orange/red/fawn depending on type and depth of colour, the last... haven't a clue. :)

Ok, this was what I had finally decided they had to be but the darker color along the edge of the belly was throwing me. My first thought was that they were torted otters as the sire had otter in the pedigree then the next day I realized that was unlikely as the dam had never produced a self.

The only non extension color in standard rex is red, I think?

Mine was chocolate based, which helps hide the smutty color.

Yes, red is the only SOP non-extension color. I also think it is supposed to be wideband as the wrong belly color is severely faulted.

The last kit is the same as the first kit just at a younger age. I think these were born to light for amber. The ambers I have had have been born a chocolate color with agouti markings.
