The future not so much mouse killer that loves cat kibble, all toys, and sleeps on people as much as possible. Her blue eyes have turned to green. They seem to have caught a virus so they both have crusty eyes and sneezing. Miyu more the former and Misaki more the latter. $300 vet bill yesterday but they tested negative for feLV, got a distemper vaccine, some revolution, there is the start of some ear mites so we have ear drops, and some eye drops to help relieve crustiness better. The vet wanted us to set up spaying times but I think I'll use the discount spay/neuter clinic which also gives any desired vaccines and microchip for $5 at time of spay.

Did the vet suspect Herps Virus at all? I have a rescued barn kitty who has herpes, he's been battling it on/off for 6 years now. L-lysine works AMAZING! You can get kitty l-lysine online in cat chews or just regular over-the-counter human stuff works peachy too. He gets goopy crusty eyes when the virus is active, once he starts on the l-lysine it all clears up in 36 hours.

Good luck! Super cute kitty!

Could also be a calicivirus. There's not much treatment for either. The vet said if they get worse we might try an antibiotic to prevent any secondary infections until they get rid of the virus. That's about all I'm seeing for treatment unless they get the really nasty strain of calicivirus. I was surprised the only vaccination he wanted to do was distemper but I guess if they probably have one of the 2 most common virus and they are indoor only there is not much point in vaccinating for it.

I'm starting to like this vet for not being the kind to act like you have committed murder for not vaccinating everything and neutering asap. He spreads out vaccinations with the minimum needed and suggests neutering at slightly older ages if the animal is kept supervised/indoors. The last vet we used started to get very demanding about what we do for the dogs. She practically would not let me leave the office without making a second appointment when I brought a dog in for just rabies vaccine and said we'd do the rest later. It's not like I don't vaccinate but I don't always see a point every year in healthy adult dogs. Plus for some reason we cannot solve the dog has incontinence for about a month after receiving a bunch of vaccinations. It's weird and we have to keep giving her medication daily for 3-4weeks until it stops. Then I always had to take their vaccine list and go through eliminating the stuff that wasn't worth it like lyme disease when we were living in the condo and I couldn't go hiking.
