I got 4 kits on Thanksgiving from breeding Cupcake to Buttercream, I think 2 were DOA. Of the remaining 2; one died even though I warmed it up and the last one died this morning of a broken back :( She had 2 of the 4 in the nestbox (the DOA 2) one on her shelf, and one in her litterbox. She didn't pull any hair and just...bombed as a mother for this litter. I found Cupcake and Buttercream's breeder and unless there was an owner between the breeder and the girl I got them from they had never been bred.
I will rebreed her and try again though I am not sure when is a good time to rebreed her?
And has anyone bred first timer does after 2 years old and had successful litters?

Rebreed ASAP A friend of mine bred a freebie doe that was at minimum over a year, she did great this year for litters. I would give her a couple more chances but keep notes.

I bought a 5 year old doe who hadn't been bred for 3 years and she did great, gave me two years worth of small litters and fostered like a dream.

Rebreed asap and give her a few tries. Its always sad to find dead ones but rabbits are great, its not a huge loss of time when a litter fails.

And if she fails all her chances, you get to eat her. Win win.
