Finally managed to grab a free trampoline frame so have put River Song's cage up on legs.
Sorry it is all links but that is the best I can do for pictures. Still, better than nothing, eh?
The cage is made of a 16 ft hog panel bent into shape with 2 by 1 wire wrapped round the inside and a 1 by half mesh for the floor. The floor wire goes 5 inches up the sides so the entire cage has baby saver wire.
The top is a 4 ft by 4 ft by 5 inch piece of styrofoam and the main door is a freezer shelf. NEVER pass up the chance to scavenge wire shelves, they make great doors!

I LOVE being able to cuddle her again, having to reach down to the ground makes petting bunnies harder than it needs to be. Of course, a cage this big - five ft by three ft - only works well if you have friendly bunnies but if you make one and have skittish buns there is room for a feeding cage inside. When I had a big colony I had a feeding cage, it was the only way to catch my wild wild wild meat mutts.
This line of Rex are so much friendlier than my first rabbits.
Trampoline frames show up for free on CL and FB Market Place and they really are my new bestest toy ever. Have been using part of this latest one as a workbench and several other cages are about to be stand-alone cages at last.
How high can rats jump? With smooth metal legs, perhaps rats will not be such a worry now?
