I've been watching the Cal litter with interest. He was bred to an otter, that's what I was told to do in the absence of a black doe. This particular otter doe is the one who had kits with white toes. The color on the face is getting darker, but the feet, have the same pattern as the otters do. I'll get a picture when I get home. The otters kit feet are half black and half tan patter, blending into the belly. That's ok for an otter, not good when the Cal color breaks on the foot with that same pattern. For now I will cull them all and the Cal carrying litter mates. I'm now looking for a black doe that does not carry dilute.

It ocurred to me that it should not have any affect on the Otters, but it did not occur to me that it would turn the Cals into Otters. of course it's a possible match up just not expected, and not immediately obvious until the kits reached a certain age. If I had sold these kits at 8 weeks, I would have never known.
