More new babies. Single dead baby!?

When I checked on my rabbits this morning I found a big baby rabbit on the ground. Is day 29 for 4 of my rabbits one of them (chilli) had 7 beautiful babies (the pictures bellow) but one of the other does had a single big and dead baby. I gave all the does, kaly, lady(main suspect of the dead baby), and pseudo(second suspect), grass and they are only eating it?! When I felt their belly’s I could clearly feel more babies so one of them didn’t just has one baby. I do have dogs but the dogs ignore the rabbits so I don’t think the does where stress out. Do you guys have any clue what happened?

There’s no more dead baby so far so maybe it was a one time thing.

Lady and Kaly had babies too. Lady had 4 and Kaly had 6.

often when you have a singleton they are born dead as they grow too large in utero. They do occasionally survive, but more oft then not, when I have a doe have a singleton it's large and dead.

guess a singleton is what I had yesterday. large, dead and i think the sack was stuck on it's face. but looks like i have 8 that are good.

Chilli’s, Kaly’s, and lady’s kits are doing good. Unfortunately pseudo didn’t take care of her babies but I didn’t manage to have kaly foster one.


Chilli‘s kits. the parents are chilli (vm harlequinized chinchilla) and sheep(vm/dutch broken opal). So far it looks like one solid agouti, one Dutch agouti, two broken vm/Dutch agout/blacks, and two probably rew.

kaly’s kits. Parents are kaly (vm black) and sheep. Looks like one English tort, a solid chinchilla, and four whites. And the small one is pseudo’s kit and I really don’t know what color that kit is.


lady’s kits. Lady (vm black fox) and sheep. Looks like two English or broken dutch torts and two whites.

A singleton is an only kit in a litter. If you have 8 kits besides it, it is not a singleton.
