I agree with above although I am still learning mini rex colors myself. I have been researching as one of our mini rexes has a baby with similiar colors and I came to the conclusion she is a harle.

that is what I was thinking.. just wanted to make sure. :) Thank you so much. I am still learning colors as well. This place HELPS me out big time!!! :)

"Tri" is Latin for three, and she only has two colors. ;)

Definitely harli.

Why isn't this called brindle like in cows, horses and dogs?

This rabbit does look brindle. Harlequin colored rabbits are supposed to have a checkerboard type pattern. It didn't manifest strongly in this doe, although she does have one brindled ear and one clean ear.

What about the rear foot that is showing that looks white? If it is actually white, would the above rabbit be a tri or is there a certain percentage of each color required to be a tri? I know what tri is in dogs but trying to figure it out with rabbits and how they designate colors and patterns .

What if a rabbit had those colors but no pattern, just a broken pattern- what would it be called as far as color?

I have to take pictures of Isabellas babies and see how the pattern looks.

It is still a Harlequin (black) not tri. Tri colors have distinct white, even booted tri colors. A white foot or patch is not uncommon on harlequins.

Okay.. thank you :)

This is a harlequin mini rex. I have attaches a pisture of a tricolor. Tricolor come in the combination of black & red, Lilac & Fawn, Chocolate & Orange, or Blue & Fawn with a white base. Just like any broken, tri's must have between 10% and 50% color. I bred mini rex for 8 years. Tricolor were my specialty.

that rabbit is a proper black japanese. Nice looking rabbit. Based on colour patterning probably a young rabbit yet. The foot colour is a miss.

Thanks everyone.... I let her know her official color is Harlequin. :) This rabbits name is Bisquit.. she is the momma to my fawn buck Buster. He is just about old enough to use for breeding, so I am ANXIOUSLY waiting for my litter of babies to get here. They are due TODAY and she is HUGE. ( I have a picture of her on here somewhere that I posted a day or so ago). I plan to keep a couple does back for Buster. (IF all goes well :) ) Well.. everyone have a beautiful Sunday.
